Commuter bus trial
Bayside City Council 27 Aug 2018

Council has resolved to undertake a six month trial of a free commuter shuttle bus service to help ease the pressure on commuter parking at Middle Brighton railway station.

The trial service will run during peak times and commence in October 2018.

Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans, said the trial is aimed at reducing pressure on the existing short supply of commuter parking.

“The new commuter bus trial is only a short term solution that will run for a six month period.

“Council will continue to advocate to the Minister for Public Transport to improve our public transport services and plan for better bus routes in Bayside.

“Our goal is to improve the attractiveness of public transport services as a real transport option for the Bayside community.

“Council is working with key partners, including Public Transport Victoria and Transport for Victoria , to find the best solution to address current services gaps in Bayside”, says Cr Evans.

The bus will operate from new temporary bus stops that will deliver passengers to and from Middle Brighton railway station from October 2018.

Council will review the service after three months of operation to determine how beneficial the service has been for our community.
