Spend some time enjoying the outdoors at a Pop-Up Library this Adult Learning Week

Livingstone Shire Council is encouraging adults of all ages in our region to discover the transformative effect of adult education during Adult Learners’ Week at two Pop-Up Library events in Beaman Park and Bell Park on 4 and 6 September.
Adult Learners’ Week, taking place nationally from 1 to 8 September, highlights the benefits of learning and the many adult learning options available for all Australians. It recognises achievements in adult learning and aims to encourage adults not currently engaged in community activities or learning to come and try something new.
Library, Arts and Culture Councillor Pat Eastwood said that some eight million Australians learn for work or pleasure each year at neighbourhood houses, community centres, libraries, men’s sheds, training organisations, TAFE colleges and universities.
“Adult Learners’ Week is the perfect time to come down to either of the Pop-Up Library events in Yeppoon or Emu Park, and take that first step to make a difference in your own life in a welcoming and supportive environment,” Cr Eastwood said.
“There will be a range of books to choose from at the Pop-Up Library, which has been created to bring a fun assortment of fantastic library services to the outdoors.
“The community is welcome to come along and enjoy a wonderful day in the sunshine learning all about our online library services, as well as some stories and songs for the kids with First 5 Forever activities on offer.
“Resident’s will be able to borrow books just the same as you would at the library, and the wonderful library team will be on hand to assist you, as well as signing up new members.”
