Rods ready to roll

More than 1,200 hot rods and at least 5,000 people will converge on the Albury Racing Club over the Easter weekend, injecting an estimated $3M-plus into local businesses.

The nationals, to be held from 1 April to 5 April, 2021, will include a range of activities, including vehicle and trade displays that will be open to the community on the Saturday and Sunday.

The event is being enthusiastically supported by the Albury Street Rodders Club.

The federation’s NSW director, David Clift, said the event would combine the best of the old and the new.

“Fans of spectacular vehicles will be in for a treat over a weekend that offers a chance to relive the era of American Graffiti, Happy Days, music, cars, fashion and fun,” he said.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said it was a tremendous coup to attract the event to Albury.

“It’s taken more than a year of negotiations to win this event for Albury and it means we’ll be in for a very colourful and lucrative Easter, 2021,” he said.

“This will be a fantastic event for both Albury and Wodonga and I look forward to showing off our wonderful community to ‘rodders’ from around the nation.”

The nationals were last held in Albury in 1979.
