The next Arts of the Underground (AOTU) taking place at Mildura Arts Centre promises to be an exciting one with an outdoor cinema, entertainment, food and craft stalls.
AOTU is a free 18+ event developed to showcase the talent of local artists and musicians, with this year’s event to be held next Friday, 7 September.
Supported by La Trobe University and Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, AOTU provides opportunities for arts and entertainment to flourish, whether it be performance art, open mic, trivia or media installations.
At the upcoming AOTU event, the award-winning film La La Land will be a highlight on the night as well as local artists, who will showcase their work in the foyer.
There will also be a performance art piece by xs Collective, and music performed by emerging artist Chloe Niutta.
Local company Vintage Catering Co. will be serving up their delicious waffles on the night and people can grab something from the café too.
Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said AOTU is growing in popularity among students, young professionals and creative people.
“AOTU offers something unique each time and this event is even bigger and better,” Cr Modica said.
“What better way to enjoy the warmer spring weather than sitting back and watching a movie on the Mildura Arts Centre lawns. This wonderful event provides a hub for creativity and for people to collaborate on ideas, providing a relaxed and fun Friday night out with a difference.” Cr Modica said.
Arts of the Underground runs from 7pm to 10pm on Friday 7 September.
