Strathfield Council is raising funds for drought-stricken NSW Farmers
For immediate release
14 August 2018
The NSW Government has determined 100% of our state is in drought, and none are doing it more tough than our farmers. Little rain, mean little crops, and little feed for animals. This can have a devastating effect on farmers, struggling to produce food for the entire country. With their livelihoods in jeopardy, mental illness and social issues can come to the fore, compounding problems.
The Strathfield Community prides itself on inclusivity and support for those in need, and so we’re spreading our support to our friends in the Bush.
Strathfield Council is partnering with Rural Aid and launching a fundraising appeal to help ease the burden of farmers battling against drought.
Council is opening the appeal with a $10,000 donation and encouraging Strathfield residents and the wider community to join the initiative and help provide assistance during this critical time.
Your support is invaluable and can make a difference to our farmers in need. Through your donation, farmers will be able to supply water and bales of hay to feed their livestock and seek emergency relief services for their families.
For more information or to find out how you can make a donation, go to www.strathfield.nsw.gov.au or visit your nearest collection point available at Strathfield Council Customer Service, Strathfield Library and High Street Library.
