Local duo Greg & Di will be entertaining crowds this Saturday at the Groovin’ into Town event in Tara.

As the weather warms up, live music will be appearing at many community events across the Western Downs region.

Western Downs Regional Council has teamed up with community organisations to provide live musical entertainment at many local events including local markets, library Fun Palaces events and two art exhibition opening nights.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said that the Groovin’ into Town initiative is an opportunity to value-add to existing activities throughout the Western Downs.

“Having live musicians performing at sixteen events across our region over the next three months will really add a positive lift to our already-popular events,” Cr Maguire said.

“We also have schools students from Miles and Chinchilla involved, so Groovin’ into Town is a real community-based initiative.

“Different musical styles will be covered including jazz, country and even an electronic pop duo called noti., so there is something to suit most musical tastes.”

Some local emerging artists have also been booked to provide opportunities for exposure and to build confidence for our home-grown talent.

“All events are free to attend, with food and drink available to purchase at most events, or you can bring your own.

“The series kicks off with duo Greg & Di performing at the Tara Markets in Grevillea Park this Saturday from 8.30 to 11.30am, so grab your picnic basket and come and enjoy the morning.”
