Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day is an annual day that raises awareness about protecting kids from child sexual assault so Moree Community Library is encouraging people to draw or paint what they feel their Safe Place is in Moree Plains as part of National Child Protection Week.
Moree Community Library Coordinator Samantha Geatches explained that as the Library has an active children’s program it is important to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
“As a community, we need to have conversations around protecting kids from child sexual assault and this event helps raise public awareness about the issue,” said Ms Geatches.
Entries are now open for the National Child Protection Week artwork Safe Place competition and must be submitted to the Library by 4 September 2018.
The artworks will be displayed at the Moree Community Library where locals will have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award as part of the competition.
On 7 September, members of the public are invited to attend a morning tea to add their voice to thousands of people who will be BREAKING THE SILENCE on child sexual assault. There will be a colouring activity for children and voting for the People’s Choice Award will be encouraged.
The announcement of the Safe Place art winners from the age divisions of preschool, primary, and high-school will be held at Moree Community Library on Saturday 8 September at 10:30am.
