Residents can get rid of unwanted chemicals and hazardous liquid waste through the free environmentally-friendly Household Chemical CleanOut by dropping products to the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) at the Moree Waste Management Facility on 22 August 2018.
Council’s Acting Waste Manager Tahra Sayers said the annual Household Chemical CleanOut is a vitally important community service which benefits both the environment and the health and safety of people of Moree Plains.
“Check cupboards and the garage for any old or unwanted chemicals including paints, solvents, pesticides and other hazardous products like cleaners and poisons.”
“Leftover chemicals, up to 20 litres or 20kgs, can be dropped off to the Moree Waste Management Facility on Wednesday 22 August for free,” said Mrs Sayers.
“The Community Recycling Centre (CRC) also accepts a variety of problem wastes on a daily basis including products like gas bottles, fluorescent globes, fire extinguishers, oils and batteries.”
The Household Chemical CleanOut is organised by Northern Inland Regional Waste (NIRW) and supported by Moree Plains Shire Council and the NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, funded from the waste levy, the campaign helps residents get rid of unwanted, old and unknown chemicals from the kitchen and laundry cupboards and out in the garage which are gathering dust and becoming unstable.
