Founder of Springfield Lakes Nature Care, Luise Manning, has been recognised for her efforts as a joint winner of Volunteer of the Year Award at the annual Healthy Land and Water Awards.
Conservation and Environment Committee Chairperson Councillor Kerry Silver congratulated Ms Manning on the achievement.
“Ms Manning has been a driving force behind Springfield Lakes Nature Care’s many projects and initiatives to improve the environment,” she said.
“Council is proud to see such an active group doing so many activities such as Clean Up Australia Day, toad catching nights, wildlife spotlight tours and more.
“Volunteers such as Ms Manning are the champions in our community who make a real difference to the environment.
“I commend the important work that all volunteers play in our community.”
Division 9 Councillor Sheila Ireland also congratulated Ms Manning and Springfield Lakes Nature Care on the Healthy Land and Water award.
“The group’s projects to clean up Spring Lake and eradicate pest species are inspiring examples of what can be achieved when we all work together,” she said.
“It has been my pleasure to support Luise with all her projects.”
Healthy Land and Water is an independent organisation working to improve the sustainable use of land and waterways in southeast Queensland.
The annual Healthy Land and Water Awards acknowledge the work of individuals, community groups, local government and industry to make southeast Queensland a greener and healthier place to live.
