Organisations supporting Campaspe’s senior residents can now apply for grants up to $1,000 through council’s Seniors Program Grants.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the Seniors Program Grants forms part of the strategic direction within the council plan to build strong and engaged communities. The funding supports incorporated organisations within Campaspe Shire that deliver programs or events that increase the health, wellbeing and social connectedness of older citizens.

“Previous successfully funded community projects have included the establishment of social groups, exercise programs, movie nights and special classes.”

“With a quarter of Campaspe’s population being over 60 years of age, council recognises the importance of supporting community groups offering opportunities for seniors via the program,” Cr Weston added.

“This year’s application process has been simplified with a primary focus on what your project is and who it will benefit.”

Submitting an application does not guarantee a grant. Applications must meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Terms and Conditions found on the application form and will be assessed and decided on by a panel of council staff.

“Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate a commitment to positive aging concepts and with the annual Seniors Festival coming up in October, now is the perfect time to apply for a grant to assist with costs of an activity,” Cr Weston said.

Applications are open now, and will close on Monday, 27 August 2018. Successful applicants are expected to be notified in mid-September in preparation for Seniors Week in October.

Further information and application forms are available from council’s website – www.campaspe.vic.gov.au or contact councils Community Programs Coordinator on 5481 2200 or email [email protected].
