A total of 14 community groups and two Committees of Council will be able to complete various programs and projects after successfully applying for grants as part of the 2018/19 Capital Funding for Community Groups and Committees of Council Grants programs.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Mike Symon said the funding supported some wonderful projects across the community that would benefit many, while also improving facilities and services.

“The funding will support some great projects and facility improvements with successful applications, including playspace upgrades and sports facility improvements,” Cr Symon said.

“The financial assistance the groups receive via the program will allow them to increase the range of services and programs offered throughout the municipality.

“Council is pleased to be able to assist these community groups to complete projects which would otherwise take years of fundraising efforts,” Cr Symon said.

Under the 2018/19 Capital Funding for Community Groups program selected projects under $5000 will be funded by Council in full, while projects over $5000 will receive a 50 per cent contribution from Council (with a maximum contribution of $75,000).
