MURRAY RECEIVES RESILIENCE FUNDING BOOST

Member for Murray Austin Evans today announced Euston will benefit from a grant to Local Land Services (LLS), allowing the delivery of first aid training to the local community.

Mr Evans said the funding comes from the Community Resilience Innovation Program (CRIP), which funds initiatives in NSW that build community preparedness and resilience to natural disasters.

“The LLS first aid training will include a mental health program to educate community members on caring for themselves and others after a disaster or emergency.

“I am proud to represent the Murray electorate where so many people dedicate their time to ensuring we’re prepared for natural disasters and I thank them for their selflessness and community spirit,” Mr Evans said.

“The CRIP is about recognising innovative practices and approaches to natural disaster preparedness that not only make our communities safer but also resilient enough to handle any emergency situation.”

Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant MP said the funding helps communities to proactively build and strengthen resilience to natural disasters. Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded under the National Partnership Agreement on Natural Disaster Resilience.

“While our emergency service agencies like the SES, RFS and FRNSW do remarkable work protecting and supporting communities in times of need, we all have a responsibility to think ahead, get ready and be as prepared as possible,” Mr Grant said.

“The CRIP funds communities to prepare for emergencies and build up resilience for times of need, especially for the most vulnerable members of the community.”

Established in 2013, the CRIP has supported a broad range of community-led projects designed to increase all-hazard disaster preparedness and build community capacity and resilience.

The Commonwealth and the NSW Government have jointly provided $1.22 million in grants funded under the CRIP for 14 projects designed to improve disaster preparedness in New South Wales.
