With August upon us, the first Ordinary Council Meeting for the month will be held this Thursday in the Cooma Council Chambers. The meeting will be live webcast on Council’s website.
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of officially opening 6km of new trails at Mount Gladstone reserve, just outside of Cooma. The new riding trails are a boost for the mountain biking community in the region and complement the existing trail network at Mount Gladstone. I joined members from the Snowy Mountains Mountain Bike Club, Council staff, and members of the community for the exciting occasion.
I very much enjoyed riding the new trails, as did those in attendance. They are a great asset for Cooma and visitors to the area. Both Council and the MTB Club are hopeful that future funding can be secured to further develop the trail network.
At the most recent Ordinary Council Meeting, Councillors resolved to waive fees for people using Adaminaby, Berridale, and Bombala swimming pools for the upcoming pool season. I’m sure locals will enjoy making a splash in these pools this summer.
There are a number of items currently out on public exhibition. Concept designs have been released on the proposed upgrades of Cooma’s Centennial Park playground. Council has committed extra funding to this project.
The playground is one of the most utilised facilities in the Snowy Monaro, and I encourage you to visit the Council’s Your Say platform to have your say.
Also out of public comment is a proposed amendment to Council’s Revenue Policy. Council has resolved to advertise a proposed rebate of $1.56/KL for residential water usage charges for Bombala residents. Submissions close 5pm Tuesday 14 August.
If you’re a community group in the former Cooma-Monaro and Bombala local government areas make sure you apply for funding through the Boco Rock Community Enhancement Fund. Application forms are available on Council’s website or at the Cooma and Bombala offices.
