Budding young artists' work on show at Armadale
City of Armadale 1 Aug 2018

Aspiring young artists will once again showcase their creative works at the City of Armadale's annual Outside the Frame Art Awards from Saturday 11 to Sunday 19 August.

Outside the Frame is an art exhibition open to students in Years 11 and 12 throughout the Perth metropolitan region in mediums including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media.

“The City is pleased to pay tribute to up and coming artists and highlight the incredible talent amongst our young people through this exhibition and awards,” Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said.

“The City recognises the importance for budding young artists to have their works showcased to the public and these art awards provide a unique professional development opportunity by offering a space where students can professionally exhibit their work.

“Art is a very important part of this area and is strongly rooted within our region's heritage and culture. We have many professional artists residing in Armadale and our region’s scenic backdrop of bushland and hills provides inspiration to draw from.

“To ensure art continues to hold its significance, it is crucial that we support artists from the very start of their careers and provide them opportunities like Outside the Frame to exhibit their works in a professionally curated exhibit visited by hundreds of people from around Perth.”

Students will be in the running for the Outside the Frame Art Awards including:

Excellence award for each of the following categories: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media Local Artist Award $1000 cash prize for the school with the best collective works
