New dog off-lead park for Clayton South pet owners

A new fenced dog off-lead park will be created underneath the elevated rail line at Clayton South.

Kingston Council has approved the new fully fenced off-lead area as part of the new open space area created as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project at Centre Road.

Kingston Mayor Steve Staikos said community consultation had shown there was strong support for a safe off-lead dog area to be included in the new open space.

“This will be a great local place for people to exercise their four-legged friends in a fenced area, that will keep their pets away from traffic and other park users,” Cr Staikos said.

“Kingston has 30 different dog-off lead areas across the municipality to provide dog-owners in every neighbourhood with a space to exercise their pets.”

The new park on Haughton Road will be opened in coming months and the off-lead area available for use once signs have been put in place.

Dog owners are reminded that dogs must be kept on-leash in all other areas. Owners are required under Local Laws to carry litter removal devices to pick up after their pet.
