The Tennant Creek Hotel liquor licence has been suspended for 48 hours

The Tennant Creek Hotel liquor licence has been suspended under new powers given to Police by the Northern Territory Government under Section 48B of the Liquor Act.
This marks the second liquor license to receive a 48 hour suspension since the legislation took effect in June of this year.
In addition to this latest suspension, the Katherine Hotel has been issued with a warning notice from Police.
Attorney General and Minister for Health, Natasha Fyles, said in a statement issued yesterday: "This is why the Territory Labor Government gave the Commissioner of Police the power to shut down any liquor licence deemed to be irresponsibly selling alcohol.
"Let me be clear; irresponsible service and sale of alcohol will not be tolerated as the alcohol related cost to the Territory is too high. A liquor licence is a privilege, not a right, and must be treated as such."
