Council is offering an opportunity for a local entrepreneur to turn the kiosk at the swimming pool into a thriving cafe.

Council has extended its call for expressions of interest to lease the kiosk at the Tennant Creek swimming pool to 22 August, providing an opportunity to expand on an already popular venue. This could fill the void of sit-down breakfast and coffee in town following the closure of two cafes - Top of Town Cafe and Cafe Buzz Bean - earlier this year. Mayor Steve Edgington said establishing a cafe at the pool was a great opportunity. "Council is focused on creating local opportunities for local businesses so we are eager to find a private operator," he said. Mr Edgington said the kiosk is in a prime location for attracting passing trade, tourists and locals for breakfast and lunch. The successful applicant would be tasked with operating the kiosk, including serving breakfast and lunch and taking pool entries on behalf of Council. Currently operating under winter hours, the pool is open Monday to Friday from 11.30am-6pm and Saturday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm with the kiosk open for breakfast on weekends from 8am-12noon. For those interested in leasing the kiosk email [email protected] or phone 8962 0076. Expressions of Interest close on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 at 4pm (ACST).
