Liverpool City Council has proudly celebrated the work of local volunteers at the annual Gift of Time ceremony at Liverpool Catholic Club.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said she was delighted that Council was able to formally recognise the commitment of volunteers contributing to Liverpool’s social fabric.

“I am proud to be the Mayor of a city where approximately 10 per cent of residents volunteer, helping ensure Liverpool is a wonderful place to call home,” Mayor Waller said.

“Gift of Time is an opportunity for Council to recognise local volunteers who regularly demonstrate acts of kindness. We honoured more than 60 organisations and individuals at a touching ceremony and would like to again extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to all who give back to our wonderfully diverse city.”

Council offers a wide range of opportunities for people to volunteer, including environmental groups, Liverpool Library, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and the Liverpool Regional Museum.

“We encourage all members of the Liverpool community to get involved in volunteering in some capacity,” Mayor Waller said.

“Volunteering provides valuable opportunities for people to develop new skills, gain work experience, meet other dedicated people, and ultimately strengthen their community.”
