Upgrades to tennis facilities in Kyneton on the horizon

Council and the Kyneton and District Tennis Club are set to upgrade tennis facilities at Victoria Street, Kyneton later this year.

The redevelopment works will see six tennis courts improved, resulting in the resurfacing of four synthetic grass courts and two acrylic courts.

Four courts will also receive upgrades to provide for Australian Standard Lighting, enabling the club to expand their current programs.

Mayor, Cr Jennifer Anderson said the facility upgrades were exciting for the community.

“Council supports our residents to live healthy, active lifestyles, and this project will allow more people in the shire to be able to access quality sporting facilities.

“The Kyneton and District Tennis Club has worked hard to make tennis available to the whole community, of all ages and abilities, not only those who play tennis at competition level and it is great that this project is now fully funded and ready to begin”, she said.

The project is funded by Council ($330,000), Kyneton and District Tennis Club ($270,000) and Tennis Australia ($30,000).

It is anticipated works will start later this year, and be finished in 2019.
