The City of Swan is seeking expressions of interest from community members passionate about the future of waste management to join a new Waste Advisory Group.
The newly formed group will make recommendations to the City to help the community reduce waste.
It will be made up of three City of Swan Councillors, eight community representatives and City staff.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said evolving with the changing waste and recycling industry is a critical priority for the City.
“While the waste and recycling industry is transforming, so too is our rapidly growing community, which is why it is important to involve the community in future waste management planning,” he said.
“Decisions made for the long term in the waste and recycling area can have a major impact on the City’s resources, budgets and the environment.
“The Waste Advisory Group will assist in bringing together information and ideas from all stakeholders throughout the City.
Whiteman Ward Councillor Adam Kovalevs said he was looking forward to his new role as group Chairman.
“I am honoured to have been elected Chairman of the group and look forward to working collaboratively with community,” he said.
“If you think you have what it takes to represent your community on this important issue, I encourage you to submit an expression of interest.”
Expressions of interests must be made before close of business on Monday, September 24. All submissions received by the due date will be considered by the City, against the selection criteria.
