Liverpool City Council is ensuring that residents will be prepared in times of emergency or crisis by participating in the Resilient Sydney Strategy 2018.

Get Prepared, a free and easy-to-use app co-created by The Red Cross and IAG, is a major part of the strategy. A one-stop tool, it helps users to prepare for any type of emergency by:

identifying support people during a disaster;creating a to-do list that will help to keep loved ones safe; anddeveloping an action plan to protect the things that matter.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller attended the launch of the Resilient Sydney Strategy 2018 with Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore last month.

“The Liverpool community has demonstrated how resilient we can be. During the April bushfires, our emergency personnel, local clubs and community came together to make it through a trying time,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“Signing up to Get Prepared takes only a few minutes but it is a useful step that will reduce stress in future emergencies. I’ve logged on and highly recommend it.

“Once they’ve created a Get Prepared action plan, I encourage residents to print it out and keep it in a visible place in their homes.”

Adopted by 100 cities across the globe, the Resilient Strategy encourages collaboration between organisations and government agencies across each city. In the Sydney chapter of the strategy, more than 100 organisations, including The Red Cross, Greater Sydney Commission and NSW Health Districts, will be able to connect and collaborate with each other.
