Ongoing improvements to Bombala’s water quality

In the last 12-months, electrical control systems and filtration valves have been upgraded at the Bombala Water Treatment Plant to the tune of $620,000.

Council has been working with the Bombala community to deliver an improved water supply. Earlier this year, Bombala’s water supply received an extensive clean out as professional divers removed 69 cubic metres of sludge from two service reservoirs and the clearwell at the Bombala Water Treatment Plant.

Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor, John Rooney, said Council has taken important steps in ensuring Bombala residents have access to cleaner drinking water.

“Council has responded to the concerns of residents, and made considerable improvements to Bombala’s water quality,” Mayor John Rooney, said.

“In the last 12-months, Council has taken great strides in cleaning up the Bombala water supply. The watermains have been extensively flushed, and significant upgrades to the water treatment plant have occurred.

“Council is continuing to investigate water quality improvement opportunities and treatment process augmentation for the Bombala water supply scheme.”

Snowy Monaro Regional Councillor and Bombala resident, Clr Sue Haslingden, said residents are benefiting from ongoing improvements to the quality of the town’s water.

“The community is aware of the work Council has undertaken to clean-up Bombala’s water supply. It’s been a priority of Council to provide cleaner water,” Clr Haslingden said.

“I haven’t received any complaints regarding the current water quality. It’s pleasing to see further work scheduled to enhance the reticulation system.”
