Additional time to have your say on Miners Rest Plan: Our Township Towards 2040

Miners Rest community members hoping to contribute to the Miners Rest Plan: Our Township Towards 2040 now have more time to do so.

Residents will have an additional month to provide feedback on the draft plan, which is available online at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au

So far more than 300 people have visited the mySay page, with 10 people contributing to the survey during the first two weeks.

More than 65 people, including students from Miners Rest Primary School, also attended the community workshops and drop-in session on 13 August, which provided community members an opportunity to identify and discuss what they liked and did not like about the draft plan.

The City of Ballarat has partnered with the Miners Rest community to deliver The Miners Rest Plan: Our Township Towards 2040, a long-term vision and action plan to help best manage change in Miners Rest into the future. 

The draft plan, which was developed following two previous rounds of community consultation, can be viewed online or at Customer Service at the Town Hall, the Phoenix or the Ballarat Library.

The draft plan outlines what the community has identified is important to consider for the future of Miners Rest, and what the City of Ballarat has learnt about the area. 

Residents are now being encouraged to have their say on this draft plan, with feedback received during the consultation phase informing the final Miners Rest Township Plan. 

The Miners Rest Plan will:

• Establish a long-term community vision for Miners Rest

• Develop a prioritised action plan and responsibilities for implementation

• Guide the City of Ballarat and other authorities to prioritise investment in the town

• Provide a sound basis for the community and the City of Ballarat to apply for grants or lobby for funding

• Identify potential changes to the Ballarat Planning Scheme to implement land use planning actions to achieve the vision.

The survey is available online at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au until Monday 1 October.
