The City of Ballarat has joined forces with Ozebuddy to help promote physical activity within the municipality.

OzeBuddy, an online social platform, aims to help improve the wellness of community members by assisting residents find exercise ‘buddies’.

It brings together like-minded people to train, walk, or to play sport together.

The online platform also provides community members with details about City of Ballarat reserves, facilities, parks, walking tracks, bicycle networks and other active recreation opportunities.

The new initiative is free to community members, and is as simple as signing up online at: ozebuddy.com

The City of Ballarat is committed to promoting and supporting active living, specifically activities which will assist increase female participation in sport and physical activity across the region, while promoting equitable opportunities in the sporting environment.

The partnership with Ozebuddy also supports the recently adopted Active Women and Girls’ Strategy through facilitating change and addressing direct links to specific strategy actions, including:

Increasing female participation in both structured and unstructured physical activity Development of a local multi-faceted physical activity promotion and communication tool/strategy to motivate and encourage change behaviour Addressing the lack of knowledge/awareness of existing participation opportunities available within the municipality which are a barrier to participation.
