Rangers patrol on two wheels
City of Bayswater 4 Sep 2018

City of Bayswater rangers have added two bicycles to their fleet, expanding their patrol both on and off road. Bicycle patrols will initially focus on the City's busiest riverside locations including Bardon Park and Riverside Gardens, with rangers targeting littering and responsible pet ownership.

City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull said the bicycles would enable rangers to respond to incidents more quickly. "The City of Bayswater is set over a 10km stretch of the Swan River, most of which is not accessible by car. Visitors to these popular riverside destinations can now expect to see the City's rangers out and about patrolling on push bikes.

"Using bicycles instead of cars means the rangers are more visible and approachable to the community, plus it's a much more environmentally-friendly way to get around the City's sensitive natural areas."

The two bicycles are suited to off-road travel and are planned to be used for patrols of parks and other difficult-to-reach areas throughout the City in the future.
