Have a splash with Ipswich Water Fest

05 September 2018

Ipswich Water Fest will bring a bumper series of water-based activities to local creeks and rivers.

The 2018 event will be held from September 22 to October 14, 2018.

One of the key activities will be the Catch, Snap and Release fishing competition which could also snag keen anglers a share of a $350 prize pool.

Another way the whole family can participate any time during the Ipswich Water Fest is by completing the River Heart Parklands Scavenger Hunt.

The popular Come and Try Canoeing sessions will return to Colleges Crossing Recreation Reserve, Chuwar on Sunday September 30. Bookings are open for these free sessions, which provide guidance from a professional instructor and all equipment.

Bookings are also open for Learn to Fish sessions where young or new anglers can learn safe and sustainable fishing tips at Joseph Brady Park, Barellan Point on Tuesday September 25.

A council spokesperson said the three-week event showcased Ipswich’s waterways, and encouraged active lifestyles as well as educating people on the importance of caring for our waterways.

“It’s perfectly timed for the beautiful spring weather and also offers something fun for families to do in the September school holidays,” she said.
