Visitor Information Centre (VIC) staff will take to the streets this weekend to chat with Broken Heel revellers and spruik all the city has to offer.

Council's Senior Tourism Officer, Patrick Kreitner, said staff had been gearing up for the festival for some time.

"Broken Heel is obviously a spectacular event in its own right, but it's also a great chance to promote the many sites and tourist attractions in Broken Hill," he said.

"There's been a massive influx of people for the Festival, so it makes perfect sense to get out there and tell them about all the things there are to see and do in the city."

Mr Kreitner said VIC staff would be roaming Argent Street in bright blue and yellow "i" shirts to assist any visitors seeking information.

"Not all of the visitors will drop into the VIC, so we wanted to be proactive and get out there and be visible," he said.

"The tourism industry is constantly evolving, and we can't be content to just sit and hope that people will come to us.

"This is a great chance to promote Broken Hill, and the better experience we can give visitors, the more chance there is that they'll tell others about what a great tourism destination Broken Hill is.

"We believe hitting the streets will prove successful, and it's something we'll look to do more of in the future."
