MEDIA RELEASE 7 September 2018
Registrations are now open for Council's Driving for Drought 1000 fundraiser to be held at Mt Panorama at 10 am on Sunday, 28 October.
The event is looking to bring 1000 cars to Mount Panorama to set a track record for the most number of cars moving on the iconic race circuit. Registration is $50 per car and all funds raised will be donated to Buy a Bale to support farmers.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the initiative will help support farmers and their families who have been affected by the drought leaving them struggling financially and emotionally.
"I urge those who want to get involved in this wonderful event to be quick. There is a strict limit of 1000 places available, so register online today," he said.
To help manage the 1000 cars, participants can select what a time they arrive at Mt Panorama. Times that are available range from 6 am through until 9.30 am.
To participate, people can register via www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au. Registrations will not be taken on the day of the event.
Donations to Buy a Bale can also be made via the Council website. Spectators will have access to Harris Park.
