Work to improve drainage on Willis Avenue, Marlo will begin on Monday, September 10.
The East Gippsland Shire Council project will address residents’ long-standing concerns.
The Willis Avenue project will involve installing underground drainage and sub-surface drainage, constructing kerb and channel, batter earthworks, pavement reconstruction and sealing works.
The $500,000 project is funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery program.
Residents can expect some traffic disruptions, particularly during installation of the underground drainage across the road, when Willis Avenue will be restricted to local traffic only.
The works will address ongoing road and drainage problems in this area of Marlo, that have been raised by community members in consultation sessions.
With the availability of Roads to Recovery funding, these issues are now able to be comprehensively addressed through a significant upgrade project.
The works will be carried out by Eastern Gippsland Road Maintenance Pty Ltd. Council aims to have the project completed early in the New Year.
