East Gippsland Shire Council in partnership with Safer Together, will be conducting an emergency exercise in Mallacoota on Saturday, September 22.
The exercise will involve a simulated sequence of events that may occur in a bushfire.
Council’s Director Community Strategy Kate Nelson said Mallacoota residents were encouraged to attend.
“The scenario is an opportunity to review and discuss the actions people would take in an emergency, and test their emergency plans in an informal, low-stress environment,” Ms Nelson said.
Representatives from response and support agencies will be attending the event to outline the agency response actions and provide advice and guidance to the community.
“It is envisaged that this emergency exercise will also be an opportunity for the community to update its Local Incident Management Plan, which is owned by the community,” Ms Nelson said.
The emergency exercise will be held at the Mallacoota Mudbrick Pavilion on Saturday, September 22 from 10am to 2pm. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Bookings are essential for catering purposes. Please RSVP at council’s Mallacoota Customer Service Centre at 70 Maurice Avenue or phone council’s Emergency Management team on 5153 9500.
