The Mayor and Deputy Mayor visited Warrego over the weekend to familiarise themselves with the site for construction of the new, modern 300,000 tpa ‘Carbon in Pulp’ Mill.
Following on from the recent ASX announcement by Emmerson and Territory Resources, they were given a tour of Warrego by Territory Resources Chairman, Mr Yuzheng Xie and General Manager, Mr Stephen Jones.
The new Mill will provide a Centralised Processing Facility for gold deposits and potential new mines, which means more jobs, more opportunities for local business, and more investment for Tennant Creek.
"This is a fantastic outcome for the Tennant Creek region with the construction of the central milling facility and mining likely to generate 20-30 new employment opportunities," said Mayor Edgington.
"Barkly Regional Council will continue to do everything we can to ensure the Barkly region is the best place in the Territory to live, work, visit and invest in."
Emmerson's Managing Director Rob Bills said depending on government approvals and renovations, it is hoped the facility will be up and running by the end of this year.
