Police have charged a man with drug offences including possessing an over schedule quantity of methylamphetamine, after a vehicle search outside Mount Isa Catholic Church at 4pm on Friday August 31.

Police increased patrols the area after reports from the public concerning drug activity.

A search of the vehicle located a large quantity of methylamphetamine, a large sum of cash and weapons.  A 55-year-old Boulia man was charged with possession of dangerous drug (20g of methylamphetamine), possession of proceeds of crime ($2025 in cash) and possession of a knife in a public place.

The man appeared in the Mount Isa Magistrate court on Saturday and will reappear on October 16.
