Photographers of all ages are invited to enter the annual Macarthur Nature Photography Competition, which is now officially open.
Residents are encouraged to show through their photos how important the local environment and its native plants and animals are to them.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the area was home to many talented photographers and he looked forward to seeing how they captured the beauties of nature.
“The Macarthur region is home to pristine bushland, unique wildlife and scenic waterways,” he said.
“This competition not only highlights that beauty, but also brings to the public’s attention the importance of respecting and protecting our natural areas for future generations.”
Entries in the competition, hosted by the Macarthur region’s three councils – Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly – opened on Threatened Species Day on Friday 7 September.
The competition closes on Tuesday 2 October, and more than $4,000 in prizes are up for grabs.
This year’s themes are Waterways, Native Flora, Native Fauna, Experience Nature and Landscapes of Macarthur.
There are three age categories (Primary School: 5 – 12 years, High School: 13 – 18 years and Open: 18 years and over), making the competition accessible to enthusiasts of all ages, in addition to prizes for the most entries overall for primary schools and overall high schools.
Competition entries can be submitted online with an $11 fee per image to cover printing and mounting, or entrants can print and mount their own photograph in accordance with the guidelines and submit it at their local Council.
The Macarthur Nature Photography Competition is proudly sponsored by Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils, Macarthur Camera House, Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, Woolglemai Environmental Education Centre and the Australian Botanic Garden, Mt Annan.
