Cleverly adapted from the much-loved book by Roald Dahl, George’s Marvellous Medicine bounds off the page onto the stage in a live show for the whole family at Karralyka these school holidays.
Direct from a sold-out season at the Sydney Opera House, this hugely imaginative and entertaining adaptation of Roald Dahl’s treasured tale has been whiz-bang whirred into shape by shake & stir theatre co. and is bursting with mischief, magic and mammoth laughs.
Join George, his ghastly granny, his long-suffering parents and an entire farmyard of magical animals, as this phenomenal show literally raises the roof!
George points out that while his last name is Kranky by name and not by nature, his Grandma, however, is indeed a cranky old woman.
She complains all the time, she’s mean and smells funny, and she’s always telling George what to do.
“George – make me a cup of tea!” “George – rub my feet!” “George – stop growing!” Ugh.
But on one particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough.
Wanting to put a stop to her constant nagging, George decides to concoct a special medicine, greater than any medicine in the history of the world! Though what he doesn’t expect is that this medicine may actually work; creating the start of a rather marvellous adventure.
But the show comes with a warning, “Kids, do NOT try this at home!”
Set in the Kranky family’s English farm, with colourful costuming, constantly moving sets and elaborate lighting, this acclaimed production is sure to be a hit with the entire family – and don’t forget to bring along your grandma!
The award-winning team behind the production of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beasts (2015) bring you this exciting stage adaptation from the wacky mind of the world’s No.1 storyteller.
