Armadale encourages thousands to get their kilt on!
City of Armadale 12 Sep 2018

Record crowds descended upon Minnawarra Park in Armadale last Sunday for the annual Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run, with over 670 runners donning a kilt and completing either 2.5 or a 5-kilometre run around the City Centre.

Captivating pipe bands, highland dancing competitions, heavy events for both men and women, a fancy dress parade for Scottish dogs and a medieval fair and clan village meant that this year’s event had it all!

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the event continues to be a must-attend on the City of Armadale social calendar and has once again put Armadale on the WA event map with runners and event attendees flocking from near and far to enjoy the day.

“While the Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run is a wonderful day for those of Scottish descent, non-Scottish people are also enjoying its family friendly nature, while immersing themselves in the wonderful Scottish culture.”

The winner of the Perth Kilt Run in the 5-kilometre category, presented by the Roleystone-Karragullen Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, within was Gavin Nicklette, whilst Adam Scott won the 2.5-kilometre route.

“This year, we welcomed record numbers to the Perth Kilt Run, and we are confident over the coming years we will edge closer to reaching Guinness Book of Records status, for a fun run featuring the most people wearing a kilt.

“Thank you for the generous support of our sponsors Comment News and the Roleystone-Karragullen Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, as well as the tireless efforts of our volunteer committee and City staff.”
