Works to commence on Bridge Road duplication Published: 3 September 2018

Cardinia Shire Council will soon start work on a $1.1m project to widen Bridge Road, Officer.

At its meeting on Monday 20 August 2018, Council awarded the tender to QR Construction (Gippsland) Pty Ltd, and works are expected to start in the coming months.

The project will provide an additional two-lane roadway for the full duplication of Bridge Road, Officer between Niki Place and Optima Street. The works involve pavement construction, electrical works, drainage improvements and other associated works.

The project was identified as a high priority for 2018–19 and will complete the entire duplication of Bridge Road. Creating a southern local arterial connection between Beaconsfield, Officer and Pakenham, this will provide road users with an alternative to using the Princes Highway and reduce traffic congestion caused by the single roadway section.

Jointly funded by Council’s Officer Development Contributions Plan and a grant under the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery Program 2018–19, this project delivers on Council’s commitment to maintain and upgrade local roads.
