Operational Plan to guide Council actions for 2018-2019 financial year

Gladstone Regional Council this week adopted its Operational Plan 2018-2019, setting out the organisation’s priorities for the next nine months.

The document identifies the actions and services required for Council to deliver on the visions and objectives contained in the Corporate Plan 2018-2023 adopted in July.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the Operational Plan provided the guidelines to developing a resilient community and diverse economy.

“It identifies what services will be delivered, how those services will link to the Corporate Plan and how Council’s progress will be measured,” Councillor Burnett said.

“Councillors and Council’s executive leadership team worked with consultants to develop the Operational Plan so that it complemented the aims of the corporate plan, ensuring the two documents are consistent in the direction they give Council over the remainder of the financial year.

“The Operational Plan is also consistent with Council’s Budget 2018-19 and, although it will be replaced at the end of the financial year, the strategic intents and related actions and outcomes it establishes continue to be implemented within the Corporate Plan.”

Cr Burnett said Operational Plan 2018-2019 would help secure the region’s economic future.

“At present, we are one of the few local governments within Queensland that is financially sustainable and adherence to the Operational Plan, in the short-term, and the Corporate Plan, over a longer duration, will only strengthen Council’s fiscal position,” he said.

“Both the Operational Plan and the Corporate Plan are considered documents, embracing all members of the community and clearly detailing the way forward for the region and Council by identifying means of greater efficiency and reduced expenditure.”
