Gladstone Regional Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from community members interested in joining a Reconciliation Action Plan Advisory Committee.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the committee would be a formal advisory body to Council, providing strategic advice in relation to Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) process.

“The committee will support the creation of meaningful relationships and promote sustainable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians within the Gladstone Region,” Councillor Burnett said.

“Formation of this advisory committee is a progression of Council’s commitment to reconciliation and assists in establishing community relationships which will play an important role in Council’s RAP journey.”

Advisory committee members will be selected from across the Gladstone Region with a broad representation of gender and age.

Applicants with knowledge and commitment to community action and involvement will be viewed favourably.

Residents interested in finding out more can attend a drop-in information session on Tuesday, September 11 from 4pm to 7pm at the Community Engagement Centre (formerly the Community Advisory Service), 142 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.

An Expression of Interest form can be requested by contacting Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan Officer Gay Sirriss on 4970 0700.

Expressions of Interest are open until 5pm on Wednesday, September 19 and can be submitted via email to [email protected] or post to Gay Sirriss, Reconciliation Action Plan Officer, Gladstone Regional Council, PO Box 29, Gladstone Q 4680.
