The third annual Chinchilla One Long Table Multicultural Food Festival is gearing up to become another wonderful community event.

Festival goers can expect a celebration of culture with live entertainment and international cuisines including German, French, Thai, Russian and more.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire encourages both residents and visitors to the Western Downs to visit the Chinchilla One Long Table on Saturday 15 September.

“We have a wonderful mix of cultures in the Western Downs and we are so lucky to be able to celebrate and come together as a community to support and embrace them,” Cr Maguire said

“Events such as One Long Table provide an opportunity to experience the vast array of backgrounds that we have in our region such as German, South African, Filipino and Hungarian through food and family fun.

“With over 36 languages spoken in the Western Downs it’s events like these that allow us to showcase how welcoming our communities are.”

Conversations in English Coordinator Zita Stark is excited to see the community embrace the celebrations.

“Events such as Chinchilla One Long table bring colours to life and create a sense of nostalgia for our multicultural communities,” Ms Stark said.

“Anything to do with supporting and embracing our differences brings a warm feeling of welcoming and belonging.”

Chinchilla One Long Table kicks off at 4pm at Heeney Street with pre-purchased tickets available from the Chinchilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
