Group having fun at a senior’s fitness class
Swimfit Aquatic Centres across the Western Downs are going swimmingly with new classes being launched this Spring.
Kevin Cook, Business Manager of the Swimfit group said that they are keen to support the local community, offering free community activities as well as their regular classes.
“Once the weather warms up, we’ll be offering free tadpoles weekly classes for infants aged 3-6 months at all our facilities across the Western Downs,” Mr Cook said.
“In November we plan to host inflatable parties at our pools as part of the Youth on the Move activities across Dalby, Chinchilla and Miles.”
Kevin says that the learn to swim classes remain popular and that it’s not only young children that are attending.
“We accommodate all ages, from adult one-on-one swimming lessons to whole-of-family groups.
“Those who attend our learn-to-swim classes can now access the public pool without any additional costs, at any time when the pools are open.”
The opening hours of the Dalby and Chinchilla Centres will increase when school holidays commence on 24 September.
“From Monday to Thursday we will be open from 5.30am-7pm; Fridays 5.30am-6pm; Saturdays 7am-5pm and Sundays 9am-3pm.”
The pools at Jandowae, Miles and Wandoan will be opening in October, with times to be finalised in the next two weeks.
Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Facilities Councillor Ray Brown said that the Swimfit Centres across the region are continuing to grow in popularity.
“We are really pleased to see some of the improved services that our aquatic centres are offering across the region, which are proving to be a hit in our communities,” Cr Brown said.
The Swimfit centres are currently looking for learn-to-swim teachers for Dalby and Chinchilla so anyone who is interested is asked to contact the Centre Managers.
