Garage Sale Trail is coming

Australia’s largest garage sale is coming to The Barossa Council on October 20 and 21.

Council is excited to be part of the national movement, Garage Sale Trail which will see over 400,000 Australians take part in the nation’s biggest ever weekend of garage sales.

Mayor Bob Sloane said it was a ‘no brainer’ for Council to be part of this year’s initiative, particularly on the back of the new waste contractor and waste education program.

“Garage Sale Trail is aimed at bringing communities together and promoting reuse. It’s all about encouraging communities to become more sustainable by inspiring people to reuse rather than disposing,” he said.

“We saw this as unique opportunity to promote reuse and community building in a fun and creative way. It’s a great fit with our current waste education program and new waste service where we are encouraging the community to waste less and recycle more.

“We’re encouraging people to join the reuse movement by hosting a garage sale, clearing out clutter and making some money at the same time. It’s good for the planet and good for you.”

It’s totally free to participate in the Garage Sale Trail. Households, schools, community groups, even entire streets can get involved over one weekend.
