Dog Parks - Have your say

Unleash your voice

In consultation with community representatives, we are seeking feedback from you to help inform future decision making on the need for dog parks in our community.

From July 18 to August 8, members of the community are being asked to fill out a short survey which poses a number of questions about the potential benefits and costs of two dog parks for the community, along with a dog park wish list.

At its February meeting, Council agreed to undertake a preliminary project to determine the community need for dog parks.

Mayor Bob Sloane said the purpose of the survey is to gain an insight into the community’s needs and wants for potential dog parks.

“Currently we have 4892 dogs registered in our Council area, and while we are interested in hearing from dog owners, we would like the wider community to be part of this conversation,” he said.

“There are many benefits to animal companionship and we want to invite the whole community to participate because this proposal would be funded by rates, not just dog registration fees.

“This is an opportunity for the community to express their views on dog parks directly with Council. Feedback will then be collected and presented to Council to inform future decisions around dog parks and to determine if there is a need in the community for dog parks.”

Head online to www.ourbetterbarossa.com.au to fill out a short survey and share your views on whether Council should invest, or not invest, in dog parks.

We also held two community pop-up information sessions at the Co-op on 19 July and in Williamstown on 21 July.
