Friends of the Gelorup Corridor Members with the fallen jarrah tree.

On Tuesday morning, 11 September 2018, the Shire of Capel received an enquiry from Main Roads WA on whether the Shire had any knowledge of a large tree being felled within the Bunbury Outer Ring Road reserve, immediately north of Woods Road, Gelorup.

The Shire has undertaken an internal investigation and determined that it has not undertaken any works associated with this activity.

Approval to clear native vegetation rests with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.  Licenses to collect fire wood for residential purposes rests with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
