Blessing of the Roads 2018

This symbolic gesture is a reminder that everyone on the roads has a responsibility for keeping each other safe over the Easter long weekend. 

City of Rockingham Deputy Mayor, Deb Hamblin said “The Blessing of the Roads will help raise awareness for all road users about the need to exercise courtesy, care and common sense when travelling on our roads. It’s also an opportunity to recognise the dedicated efforts of the many people in our community who work towards reducing road trauma, especially our emergency services personnel.”

Deputy Mayor Hamblin also urges everyone to be patient and tolerant of other road users. “Plan ahead so you have plenty of time to arrive at your destination. Slow down, don’t drink and drive, wear a seatbelt, and turn off your mobile phone while you’re behind the wheel. “

The fire, ambulance and police services will be attending the ceremony on Thursday.
