Champion Swimmer Coaches Squad
City of Rockingham 13 Sep 2018

Former Australian Swim Team member Tayliah Zimmer will coach Squad Training at the Aquatic Centre this year and brings with her an impressive track record in the pool.

A bronze medallist in backstroke in both the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Swimming Championships and a five-time Australian champion, Tayliah is looking forward to sharing her expertise with swimmers wanting to improve their stroke, fitness or swim in a social setting.

“I have been coaching for 15 years and enjoy sharing my training and racing experience with other swimmers,” said Tayliah, who also works as a lifeguard at the Rockingham Aquatic Centre. “Whether you are training for an event, want to improve your endurance or correct your technique, I can help you to achieve your goals.”

Mayor Barry Sammels said it was a big coup for the City to have someone of Tayliah’s experience coaching at the Rockingham Aquatic Centre.

“The squad training program has been running for several years and has had great success in faction and inter-school carnivals. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a competitive edge and learn some tips from an expert,” Mayor Sammels said.

The Rockingham Aquatic Centre will run five series of its Squad Training Program over 2016/2017. Each series lasts five weeks. Series 2 starts on 14 November until 15 December. Junior squad meets from 4pm to 5pm and intermediate/senior squad meets from 5pm to 6pm.
