Mandurah Rd/Safety Bay Rd Intersection Works
City of Rockingham 13 Sep 2018

The works will be undertaken in two parts, with the approach lanes north of the roundabout constructed first followed by the construction of the exit lanes south of the roundabout.

The construction of the approach lanes north of the roundabout is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 12 April and will take approximately three weeks to complete.

The southbound lane of Mandurah Road between Fifty Road and Safety Bay Road will be closed to traffic during this time and a detour will be in place along Fifty Road/Eighty Road/Safety Bay Road (as shown on Detour Map 1). Once these works are complete, the southbound lane will be re-opened to traffic under appropriate traffic management.   Following completion of the approach lanes north of the roundabout, construction of the exit lanes south of the roundabout will commence (approximately Monday 2 May) and will also take approximately three weeks to complete.

The southbound lane of Mandurah Road between Safety Bay Road and Tincombe Grove will be closed to traffic during this time and a detour will be in place along Safety Bay Road/Eighty Road/Pike Road (as shown on Detour Map 2).  Once these works are complete, the southbound lane will be re-opened to traffic under appropriate traffic management.

The required road closures have been scheduled so that Detour 1 (between Fifty Road and Safety Bay Road) occurs mainly during the upcoming school holidays to reduce the impact on Baldivis Primary School due to additional traffic on Fifty Road.  The scheduling of the road closures also take into consideration other works currently underway on Safety Bay Road between Eighty Road and Nairn Drive.   Where possible, motorists are encouraged to seek alternate southbound routes, such as Ennis Avenue or Baldivis Road, during the intersection works.   Please note that all northbound traffic on Mandurah Road through the worksite will not be affected, however motorists should take note of traffic management that is in place.   It is anticipated that the project will be completed by late May 2016.
