Recognising our community’s unsung heroes

They’re the quiet achievers: people whose community spirit and commitment to improving the lives of others motivates them to take action and make a difference. They don’t expect kudos or acknowledgement, they’re simply in it for the betterment of their community.

Now is your chance to give these unsung community heroes the recognition and thanks they deserve! Starting today, we are calling for nominations for the 2019 Boroondara Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards. 

The awards are open to Australian citizens living, studying, working or volunteering in Boroondara. The Young Citizen Award nominee must be under 26 years of age (as at 26 January 2019). 

The winners will be decided by a judging panel, which will assess nominees against specific criteria including:

participation in activities that benefit the community demonstrated care and compassion towards improving others’ quality of life a commitment to civic responsibility demonstrated leadership. It’s easy to nominate 

Nominating someone is easy. Once you’ve read the guidelines, complete the online form or pick up a nomination form from any Council Customer Service Centre or library. 

Nominations are open until 5pm, Friday 9 November 2018. 

As always, the winners will be announced at the Boroondara Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on 26 January 2019.
