Residents receiving their official awards at Australia Day celebrations at Athlone Cottage in Jandowae this year.
Western Downs Regional Council is calling for local true-blue community groups and organisations to submit their final expressions of interest to host the much loved Australia Day celebrations in the Jandowae district next year.
Following years of successful Australia Day events across the region, Council is once again giving the Jandowae and district community the chance to host the function in 2019.
Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said this is an excellent opportunity for the Western Downs community to get involved in one of the region’s favourite events.
“We’re proud to be able to engage with our community groups throughout the entire year and this occasion is a wonderful chance for them to showcase their area and community pride,” she said.
“With the success of the Jandowae Timbertown Festival, we know that Jandowae is great at putting on events, so we’re thrilled to be able to support them on another fantastic Australia Day.
“The selected submission will have the honour to host the event with full assistance from Council, so if anyone has a great idea for an Australia Day event or venue, we want to hear about it.”
Expressions of interest are to be submitted to Council by COB Friday 28 September. To find out how to get involved contact Council’s Community Activation Officers on 1300 COUNCIL.
