Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Window Display Competition

Local businesses are invited to participate in this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Window Display Competition from 24 September to 7 October. Dress your windows/shopfront in a race theme to be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes.

To be eligible, businesses need to have their displays finished and available for people to view from Monday 24 September – Sunday 7 October. These displays must not be pulled down if the business is to remain eligible for a prize. Winners announced on Tuesday 2 October.

There’s fantastic prizes will be up for grabs for stores that participate:

1st Prize – Major Winner

$2,500 advertising package with 2BS/B-Rock and the Western Advocate & 2 x 4-day passes to Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

2nd Prize – Runner up

$1,500 advertising package with 2BS/B-Rock and the Western Advocate

3rd Prize – People’s Choice

2 x 3-day passes to Newcastle 500

Council reaches out to the community every two years to seek feedback on a range of local issues, Council's facilities and services. The survey is available on yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/2018-community-survey until 26 September 2018.

Bluntside Skatepark Series

The Bluntside Skatepark Series will be held on Sunday, 16 September from 10.00am - 2.00pm at the

Bathurst Skate Park featuring skateboarding, scooters and BMX. There’s a free barbecue and great prizes on offer. Register at australianskateboarding.com/events/categories/bluntside. Cost is $5 per competitor. For more information call Council on 6333 6523 or visit Council’s website.

Learner Supervisor Workshop

The RMS and Council are hosting a free workshop for parents supervising learner drivers on Thursday 20 September at 5.00pm at the Civic Centre (158 Russell Street).

The workshop will offer practical advice on how to help you help your learner driver become a better driver. Bookings are essential. Call Andrew on 6333 6517 to reserve your place.

Inland Sea of Sound

Inland Sea of Sound is on 30 November and 1 December. Artists include The Cat Empire and Deborah Conway. Tickets are available at visit www.inlandseaofsound.com.au

BizMonth Business Lunch with David Koch

Reserve your seat for Council's BizMonth Business Lunch with David Koch on 26 September, proudly sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank. David is one of Australia’s most recognised faces, as co-host of Seven Network's Sunrise for over 15 consecutive years and as a respected business commentator.

Ohkuma Visit - Expressions of Interest

A delegation, led by a Council representative, will be visiting Bathurst’s sister city Ohkuma in Japan from November 3 to 9. Expressions of interest are being sought to join the delegation from members of the community (at own cost). To register your interest, please call 6333 6111.

Legendary Moments Dinner

Tickets for the National Motor Racing Museum 'Legendary Moments' Dinner are now available. Enjoy a two-course meal while listening to stories from Mark Winterbottom and other Legends of the Great Race. Take in the spectacular views of Mount Panorama from Rydges top level as the Legends take you on a drive down memory lane, reliving their most memorable moments on Mount Panorama.

Sporting Association Grants

Grants are available to assist local sporting organisations to undertake specific works or purchase equipment for the advancement of sport in the Bathurst Region. Sporting organisations that are affiliated with the Bathurst District Sport and Recreation Council are eligible to apply for these grants, with a total of $20,000 allocated to this scheme.

National Tree Day

On Sunday 16 September, join in from 9.00 am (until lunch) to help plant trees at the Macquarie River (off Kefford Street). We’re aiming to rehabilitate a section of the Macquarie River to increase habitat for our native fish and wildlife in this important section of river close to town. No experience is required, all equipment is provided. Please bring your own water and enclosed footwear suitable for being outdoors. For more information, contact 6333 6285.

Driving for Drought 1000

Registrations are now open for Council's Driving for Drought 1000 fundraiser to be held at Mt Panorama at 10 am on Sunday, 28 October.

The event is looking to bring 1000 cars to Mount Panorama to set a track record for the most number of cars moving on the iconic race circuit. Registration is $50 per car and all funds raised will be donated to Buy a Bale to support farmers.
