Media Release - 14 September 2018

Residents across Campbelltown City are invited to have their say on the draft Bow Bowing Bunbury Curran Creek Catchment Strategic Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.

Campbelltown City Council is in the final stages of completing the document which identifies the areas in Campbelltown most at risk of flooding and potential ways to minimise and best manage the risk.

The Bow Bowing Bunbury Curran Creek Catchment covers a majority of the urban areas in the Campbelltown Local Government Area, stretching from Ambarvale to Glenfield.

The Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan is a key step in the Floodplain Risk Management Process, set by the NSW Government for Councils to follow.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said he urged the community to review the document, attend a community information session and to submit their feedback by the close of submissions on Monday 1 October.

“Community information sessions will be held on Thursday 20 September at Campbelltown Civic Hall from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 7pm,’’ he said.

“Please come along and discuss the Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan with Council officers.’’

Residents can submit their feedback at the information sessions, at www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/haveyoursay, to [email protected] or by mail to PO Box 57, Campbelltown NSW 2560.

The draft Bow Bowing Bunbury Curran Creek Catchment Strategic Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan can also be viewed during the month of September, at Campbelltown’s HJ Daley Library, Eagle Vale Library, Glenquarie Library, at Macquarie Fields, Greg Percival Library, at Ingleburn, in the foyer at the Civic Centre or online at www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/haveyoursay

The project is supported by the NSW and Australian Governments through the Natural Disaster Resilience Program.
